Welcome to the official website of the 2008 Village Green – Supaw Heroes, a Pet Sitters International's Take Your Dog To Work Day event.
What is TYDTWDay? "First celebrated in 1999, Take Your Dog To Work Day was created to celebrate the great companions dogs make and to encourage their adoption from humane societies, animal shelters and breed rescue clubs. This annual event encourages employers to experience the value of pets in their workplace for this one special day to promote pet adoptions." On Friday, June 20, 2008, pet sitters, animal shelters and businesses of all sizes will come together to recognize the great companions dogs make. PSI, along with Village Green Companies and others, will join pet lovers around the world to celebrate man's — and woman's — best friend.
This annual event, now in its 10th year, brings people and pets together in a special way on a special day. Dogs go to work. Hearts are touched. And as a result, homeless dogs will be adopted. "PSI's Take Your Dog To Work Day is the day for dogs." (www.takeyourdog.com)
Village Green has participated in this dog-gone fun event for the past 8 years. In 2007, Village Green employees raised over $3,550 and this year plans are to exceed that amount with your help. A minimum donation of $25 is required from Village Green employees, at our Corporate and Regional Offices, if they wish to bring their Best Friend with them to work on that day. Items donated by our various sponsors will be used in a raffle and an Online Auction (open to the public). Employees are invited to enjoy a delicious lunch provided by The Outback Steakhouse (West Bloomfield location, www.outback.com), for a small donation. We also have Jennifer Trombley back from Gentle Paws Pet Massage (www.gentlepawspetmassage.com) to give the visiting pooches massages for a small donation. All the money raised from this event will benefit the homeless dogs of APB – The Animal Placement Bureau, located in Lansing, MI and will be used towards their medical expenses, training and care. Check out our Dog Day Agenda so you will know when to watch the Rally Obedience Presentation by Kim Amatucci of The Perfect Pooch (www.theperfectpoochtraining.com) on our live web cam. See the Parade of Supaw Heroes as they fly around the office. Vote for your favorite Supaw Hero pooch online and winners will be decided by you, the online voters and you will decide who will receive the following awards:
- Best Supaw Hero Costume
- Most Creative Supaw Hero Costume
- Funniest Supaw Hero Costume
This year, Village Green Community on-site Employees could participate by submitting a photo of their Dog and join in on the fun by having you vote for their Best Supaw Hero Dog and a chance to claim some fame.
This event is made possible by the many generous donations from local businesses and others. Please take some time to review our list of sponsors and consider them in the future.
Also, a big Thank You to Christian Flickinger who spends many hours each year putting together the Village Green Dog Day website. He is responsible for this entire interactive website which allows us to share our event with dog lovers across the country. You can contact him via his website: www.nexdot.net.
