Who we are

The Animal Placement Bureau is a volunteer foster care network with no paid staff and no sheltering facility. All of the dogs in our care live with our volunteers and become as much a part of their family as their own dogs.

All donations are tax deductible!

APB is recognized federally as a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization whose primary goal is to place homeless dogs into loving, lifelong homes.

Note: this does not include adoption fees - please consult your tax advisor for details that fit your situation.

Expenses

APB is funded solely by private donations and fundraisers and does not receive any state, local, or federal funding. Our major expenses are the result of the extensive medical care we provide for each dog in our care including wormings, vaccinations, and spay/neuter surgeries.

Financial Disclosure

In return for being tax exempt and receiving tax deductible contributions, Congress requires all 501(c)(3) organizations to disclose information about their organization to the public. Normally any public requests must be disclosed on the day they are received, along with paper copies if requester asks for them. However, APB decided that a simple solution to this requirement would be to make these documents freely available on our website. Click here to view the current APB documentation.

Foster care

Foster parents are always being sought by APB. A nurturing environment is as vital to our dogs as the medical care they receive. Many of our dogs have endured a lifetime of abuse or neglect, and the personal care they receive in foster homes is crucial to their ability to be placed successfully into a permanent home. An invaluable understanding of each dog's behavior and personality is gained in foster homes, an advantage that sheltered agencies can't provide.

APB is a no-kill animal welfare agency

There is no time limit on our foster care system. When asked, "What happens if your dogs don't get adopted?" we are proud to be able to say, "They come back home with us until we find just the right home for them -- NO MATTER HOW LONG IT TAKES."

Adoption from APB

If you are interested in adopting a dog from us, call 517.346.4505, view our dogs online, or Email us at info@apbpets.com

Each prospective adopter is required to complete an application, and if approved, will then proceed to an extensive, legally-binding contract. A donation is required at the time of adoption to help off-set APB's costs.

Finding a home for your dog

If you find you can no longer keep your dog, call APB. We team with a network of animal behaviorists to offer assistance to private owners. If the problem cannot be resolved, your dog will be welcomed into our foster care program pending an evaluation. If foster care isn't available immediately, owners are encouraged to bring their dog to our bimonthly adoptions until a home opens, up. For more information on placing your dog with APB click here

FRANKIE - DOG DAY POSTER DOG
AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION

Hey, my name is Frankie and guess what?! Good news! The warm weather is here and my foster mom bought me (well us, I have to share) a new swimming pool!!! Woo-Hoo!!! It's time for fun in the sun and lounging in the pool. In case you couldn't tell, I love the water and I love running around and jumping in the pool! It's one of my most favorite things to do. Well that and checking out the cute, hot Beagle babe next door.

My foster mom calls me a dork and a goofball. Not sure what that means, but she's laughing when she says it, so it must mean that I'm funny. And that's a good thing. I like running and playing with my foster friends here. Playing keep away and tug are great fun. My foster mom says I could probably be great at agility too. I think it's cuz I'm so fast and can do lots of moves, even in the air too!! Oh and if ya want me to go with you in the car, that's fine too. Car rides are great because what guy doesn't like new adventures and meeting new people?

Even though I'm having a great time here with my foster mom and all, the one thing that I really want is a home of my own. I love kids too! I love kissing them all over and hearing their giggles. It makes me feel good to make them laugh.

If you think you have it in your heart to make me a part of your family, I know you won't be disappointed. Just email my foster mom and she can tell you what a great guy I am. E-mail julemson@wmol.com if you have any specific questions or fill out the online application!
